From May 5-9, Altalink will be conducting aerial patrols of its electric transmission facilities across the southern half of Alberta.
The patrols, done with a helicopter, are to provide the company with a visual inspection of its transmission lines and surrounding vegetation.
Altalink, which is Alberta’s largest regulated electricity transmission provider, says the work is proactive maintenance to maintain the reliability of the grid.
The following communities may see a helicopter in the area:
• Red Deer • Lacombe • Blackfalds • Benalto • Rocky Mountain House • Strachan • Municiple District of Bighorn • Sundre • Didsbury • Crossfield • Calgary • Airdrie • Okotoks • High River • Canmore • Banff • Lake Louise • Cochrane
When conducting aerial surveys, AltaLink says, they are mindful to minimize disruption to residences, area users, livestock and wildlife.
If you have any questions about the aerial patrols, call AltaLink at 1-877-267-1453.
