A fire ban is now in effect for the entire West Country, effective June 6, 2025.
The ban prohibits all wood campfires on public and private property, including backyard firepits. Outdoor wood and brush pile fires are also banned on both public and private lands.
Campfires are not allowed at Centennial Campground in Rocky during the ban, and the use of fireworks and exploding targets is also prohibited.
Certain types of fires and devices remain permitted under the ban. Propane and natural gas-powered appliances can still be used. Indoor wood fires inside a structure such as a building or RV are allowed.
Open flame oil devices such as deep fryers and tiki torches are also allowed.
The ban is in effect for the town of Rocky Mountain House, Clearwater County and the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.
The fire ban will remain in place until conditions improve. Residents are advised to check albertafirebans.ca for updates.
