A man missing for several days has been found alive near a river on the O’Chiese First Nation, northwest of Rocky Mountain House.
Rocky Search and Rescue was called out early Tuesday morning to assist in the search. The call came just after 8 a.m., following an overnight report to RCMP.
RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff said police received a report around midnight on June 10 that a man had been missing for three days. He was last seen heading into the woods on foot.
Search teams, including members of Rocky SAR, RCMP and local community groups, began scouring the area early Tuesday.
The man was eventually located alive by a member of the O’Chiese Fire Department near a river. His condition was not immediately released.
In a social media post Wednesday evening, Rocky Search and Rescue president Edward van Heeren confirmed the operation had concluded, saying he was “home safe.”
