Clearwater County has unveiled the top 10 potential names for the space currently known as the Leslieville Recreation Area.
Back in April, the county launched an online naming contest, of which it received 60 suggestions.
Ag Services whittled it down to 10 finalists, and is asking the public to reduce it down to a top five in another round of voting.
The Top 10:
- Danny Gibson Recreation Area
- Bott Recreation Area
- Alex Thompson Recreation Park
- Gerald Kujala Memorial Park
- Lobstick Park
- Evie Menzies Memorial Fields
- Voyageur Park
- Ryan Smith Recreation Area
- Pidherney’s Park
- Leslieville Recreation Area
Residents were encouraged to choose a name that reflects Leslieville’s history, culture, and community spirit. The name could also honour a community leader, person of historical significance, or highlight unique features of the area.
The contest follows several major 2024 updates to the park. The site, which is already home to ball diamonds and a playground, has recently received new benches, a picnic table, and fresh pavement, all placed atop newly-installed concrete pads.

Along with a grand opening to be announced soon, county officials say final touches will be added to the area, including a soccer pitch with the installation of goal nets.
You can cast you vote here. Voting is open until July 11.
