A group of local ukulele enthusiasts will be a fixture at Marketplace on Main in Rocky Mountain House every Thursday this summer.
Uke’in In The Rockies will be bringing their ukulele covers of popular songs to the popular summer street market.
Organizer Denise Boniface says folks have been enjoying their covers of popular songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Diamond and other popular acts of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
She adds, the group is even tackling the popular ukulele-led hit ‘Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter’ by Herman’s Hermits.
The group meets at the Rocky Library every Friday at 10:30 a.m. as a way for people to make friends, learn a new instrument and have some fun.
Boniface says everyone is welcome to their Friday gatherings at 10 a.m. to either play along, or just sit back and listen.
“I also do a beginners session right after our group session to give people some hints on how to get started,” says Boniface.
Marketplace on Main runs on Main St. in Rocky Mountain House from 5:30- 8:30 p.m. until Aug. 28. As long as it isn’t raining, Boniface says the group will be there.
