Open Creek Dam is set to host its annual open invitation car show on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Organizers say the show is open to everyone — whether they’re part of a car club, an enthusiast wanting to show off their ride, or just someone looking for a fun day trip.
Robin Mallo with Rimbey Fish & Game says last year’s event was a huge success drawing over 60 cars from around a dozen different car clubs.
“We were expecting around six clubs, and got about 12 or 13,” she says. “We were just floored because the cars just kept rolling in— we even had some from as far away as B.C.”
A BBQ concession will be on site serving burgers, hot dogs, coffee, pop, chocolate bars and more.
Mallo adds, the event started about seven years ago with the Ponoka Piston Poppers car club organizing an informal event which grew into a popular annual gathering.
The day makes a great day trip, says Mallo, as folks can not only check out the show, but enjoy fishing, hiking and beautiful fall colors.
The event is free, but donations to the Rimbey Fish & Game Association are greatly appreciated.
Open Creek Dam is located on the northeast end of Clearwater County, on Hwy 53 west of Rimbey.
