Kick It to the Curb is back in Rocky Mountain House, Sept. 20- 21.
Residents are invited to place their unwanted but usable items at the front of their property marked with a free sign.
More of a treasure hunter than a de-clutterer? Residents can explore curbsides around town to find some great new-to-you items.
“It is a way to encourage residents to reduce the waste headed to landfills,” says Laura Button, communications coordinator with the Town of Rocky Mountain House. “It gets more and more popular every year with people curbside shopping.”
Past treasures have included everything from books and board games to furniture, toys, electronics, craft supplies and kitchen gadgets.
Printable signs are available here.
The town reminds residents to only take items that are clearly marked as free, and to make sure anything they intend to keep is stored safely away from the curb. At the end of the weekend, leftover items should be brought back inside or disposed of responsibly.
To make cleanup a little easier, waste disposal fees at the Rocky Eco Centre will be waived from Sept. 22-27 — though regular charges will still apply for mattresses and freon appliances.
Kick It to the Curb returns this weekend, September 20 & 21.
