It was a split for the Rocky Rams as the team lost on the road to the Cochrane Generals Friday, but picked up a commanding victory against the Mountain View Colts in front of a hometown crowd Saturday night.

Injury issues continued to plague the Rams roster as the team skated away with a 7-2 loss on the road to the Cochrane Generals.
“We didn’t play well, we lost a few guys due to injury, and we finished the game with 11 skaters,” said head coach Cody McLellan. “It makes it pretty difficult when you’re that shorthanded at this level — not one of our finer games.”

It was a different story Saturday night as in a rematch of last Sunday’s matinee against the Mountain View Colts — this time in front of a raucous hometown crowd.
The difference maker in the game was forward Ayden Probe who was on lend from the Olds Grizzlies of the AJHL.
“Between Ayden and his two linemates, they combined for 19 points overall,” said McLellan. “When you get a line like that, it makes the game a whole lot easier.”
Probe alone scored six of the Rams goals en route to a 9-5 victory.
Next up: Two games Oct. 31 and Nov. 1
The 4-7-1 Rams will settle into a short homestand starting with a Halloween tilt against the Ponoka Stampeders at 8:30 p.m.
The team will then face off against defending HJHL champions, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rocky Arena Complex.
In preparation, McLellan says the team will continue to work on defensive zone coverage and small details of the team’s overall game ahead of the two-game home stretch.
