If all goes well, the Town of Rocky Mountain House could be featured in a future episode of HGTV’s Home Town Takeover Canada.
Discover Rocky has submitted an application for the community to be featured on the show.
Producers say they’re looking for a town with heart, history and a drive to revitalize its main street, local homes and gathering spaces.
The upcoming Canadian version is a spinoff of the popular U.S. series hosted by Ben and Erin Napier.
According to the show’s website, Home Town Takeover features the hosts “taking over another town to continue the small-town revitalization movement.”
“This project could lead to national visibility and recognition for our community,” said Discover Rocky co-chair Matt Lambert. “We were delighted to be invited to apply and felt this was a natural step as we invite people to discover our rich history and charm.”
Members of Discover Rocky, the Chamber of Commerce and the community met with representatives from RTR Media for interviews highlighting the town’s history and character.
The application included photos, videos and other material showcasing the heart and heritage of Rocky Mountain House.
“Our region is full of hardworking, resilient individuals and businesses,” said Rocky Chamber president Tim Hoven. “Showcasing our beauty and ingenuity will attract more skilled workers, entrepreneurs and investment across the region—leading to more jobs, increased business and new opportunities. This application is the first step, and we’re excited to see where it goes.”
Rocky Mountain House joins a number of other communities hoping to be featured on the show, including Bashaw, AB,, Port Alberni, B.C., and St. Stephen, N.B.
Production on Home Town Takeover Canada is expected to begin in 2026, with a premiere slated for late 2026 or early 2027.
The Chamber thanked the Town of Rocky Mountain House, Clearwater County and The Mountaineer Publishing Co. for their contributions to the application.
