Following a successful Heart of the Community campaign, the Rocky Health Foundation has launched into a new $585,000 initiative — Your Rest Assured.
The campaign will work to raise funds to purchase 31 acute care beds, two labour and delivery beds, and nine stretchers at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.
All the beds will serve to replace beds that have been identified by hospital staff as “struggling” to remain in service, says Shirley Hope, Chair of the Rocky Health Foundation.
Similar to the newly-installed heart monitors at the hospital, the new beds will be more standardized across the hospital, allowing for ease of use and procurement of replacement parts.
Two models are set to be purchased: the standard Centrella SmartBed Air Surface (priced at $17,354 each), and the Centrella SmartBed with pro+ surface ($11,706 each).
The new beds will come with some neat features, says Hope, including some with built-in scales, exit alarms, advanced lighting, charging ports on the rails — and even another that can be customized for gynecological emergencies.

The health foundation doesn’t have a set timeline to raise the $585,000, but will order the beds individually as funds become available to have them commissioned at the hospital as soon as possible.

Donations can be made at hospital reception, mail to the hospital, (5016-52 Ave, Rocky Mountain House, AB T4T 1T2), e-transfer to info@rockyhealthfoundation.ca, or scan the QR code (see below).
Businesses and community members are also invited to sponsor individual beds — with recognition available, says Hope. Anyone interested can contact the Rocky Health Foundation at 403-847-6641.
Hope confirms the foundation’s previous Heart of The Community Campaign is completely wrapped up.
The campaign successfully raised around $444,000 to outfit the hospital with 18 new cardiac devices — all of which have been installed and are currently in use at the hospital.
“We are so grateful for the community for their overwhelming generosity,” says Hope. “We were able to complete that campaign in a much shorter period of time than what we anticipated.”
Hope adds, the Rocky Health Foundation is volunteer based and 100 per cent of all donations are used for the campaign cause — every dollar donated goes towards purchase of the beds.
