Lochearn Elementary School and École Rocky Elementary in Rocky Mountain House have each received “levelled up” sound and visual systems in their gymnasiums.
The gear — which includes a 9000-lumen overhead projector and high-quality speakers — was put to the test in mid-December during Christmas concerts at École Rocky.
The new, state-of-the-art equipment constitutes a “significant investment” from Wild Rose School Division (WRSD) of over $20,000 at each school, says École Rocky Elementary principal Tim Bowman.
Previously, staff had to set up and tear down aging equipment before and after every school function, he says. But now, the built-in equipment can be utilized with the flick of a switch; and, according to Bowman, is very user-friendly.
“It’s a real treat to not spend an hour setting up equipment before events,” says Bowman. “We had our Christmas concert last week, we had perfect sound quality throughout the gym — every parent gets to hear their child just the way they want to hear them.”
The equipment was professionally installed late October, and can be used for multiple functions including sports events, assemblies, concerts and learning opportunities.
Other Rocky schools including Pioneer Middle School and Rocky Christian School have similar equipment installed, bringing them up to standard with new school builds in Alberta.
