The Rocky Rams dropped both games of a home-and-home series against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on the Dec. 19–20 weekend.
At Ron Ebbesen Arena on Dec. 19, the Rams surrendered six unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes, falling 9–2.
The series wrapped up Dec. 20 in Rocky, where the Rams opened the scoring on a goal from Cody Wells. However, the Thunder responded with four straight goals to secure a 4–1 win.
“We just didn’t start on time — that comes down to the players and coaches being prepared a little bit better,” said head coach Wendall Mason. “We got behind the eight-ball early and had to chase the game.”
Despite the losses, Mason said the weekend provided a valuable opportunity for new additions to the lineup to get familiar with the team’s systems.
The Thunder have now won all three meetings between the teams so far this season, including a close 4–3 decision on Oct. 3.
The home-and-home series marked the Rams’ final games of 2025. Mason said the team is looking forward to a short break before focusing on improving their level of compete ahead of a busy January schedule.
The Rams return to action Jan. 3, opening a nine-game stretch to close out the regular season against the Mountain View Colts in Didsbury. Their next home game is Jan. 9 against the Cannex Cochrane Generals.
