Clearwater County staff helped stock the shelves at The Lord’s Food Bank in December with a food drive that brought in more than two thousand pounds of donations — a total well beyond anyone’s expectations.
A food drive organizer says county employees collected about 2,180 pounds of non-perishable food over a three-week period, filling two SUVs when the items were delivered.
The organizer says the drive grew out of a monthly staff wellness challenge and was set up as a friendly competition, encouraging teams to see who could donate the most food by weight.
Initially, organizers say the food bank expected between 200-300 pounds of food, but note they were pleasantly surprised by the sheer size of the donation. The Lord’s Food Bank indicated it was one of the largest contributions it has received from a single organization.
The large donation from Clearwater County comes on the heels of the annual Stuff the Cruiser. While the 2025 event raised 2,181 lbs of food and $3,931 in cash, that was a significant drop from 2024.
Year over year, food and cash donations were both down around 40 per cent.
