Unsung heroes in Rocky Mountain House are once again set to be recognized as the town’s Citizen of The Year nominations are open.
Awarded annually at the Denim and Diamonds awards ceremony, nominations are open in a number of categories:
- Athletics and sports excellence
- Music, art, culture and heritage
- Distinguished volunteer service
- Youth Civic Award
- Special Achievement Award
- Martha Kostuch Memorial Award – Environmental Stewardship
Nominations are accepted year round, however, the town says nominations received after Feb. 6, 2026 will be considered for the 2027 awards presentation.
2025 winners included Elijah Howell winning the Youth Civic Award, longtime town councillor Dale Shippelt winning the Cindy Taschuk Community Builder Award, and Cheryl and Alfred von Hollen winning the Special Achievement Award from the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

This year’s awards will be announced during the 2026 Denim and Diamonds, March 6 at the Lou Soppit Community Centre.
