A group looking to complete improvements to the Caroline School grounds says it has wrapped up a highly-successful raffle campaign.
An “excellent number” of over $8,600 was raised for the organization’s effort’s to transform the school grounds’ soccer field, walking track, parking lot, and more.
Crystal M. was the winner of a dream ‘Battle of Alberta’ package for the game Feb. 4 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. She, along with 19 others will watch the game from a luxury box, with meals and drinks included.
The draw was completed on Facebook Live Jan. 15 by Heather Nutting, chairman for the Caroline Enhancement Committee, and Caroline School teacher Shelley Lewis. Nutting says Crystal was informed immediately of her big win and is very excited for the game.
Nutting says the support from the community was overwhelming, allowing the organization to raise the large sum.

Back in 2025, the Caroline Enhancement Committee set out to raise $250,000 for improvements to the school’s grounds.
The group will find out at the end of March if its application for a provincial Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) grant is successful.
If the CFEP does come through, Nutting says the $8,600 raised will essentially double, as it’s a matching grant.

Ultimately, the group says the goal is to create a beautiful, accessible central space that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy for not only sports, but walking and socializing.
While she’s optimistic the CFEP will come through, Nutting says work is set to begin in spring 2026 with or without it.
