Ahead of opening its doors to the public later in 2026, residents in the Ferrier area will gather at the community hall May 23 for a volunteer work bee.
The event is open to all residents and will include general grounds cleanup, repairs, light landscaping and taking down Christmas lights, among other tasks.
“Of course, we’ll be showing off the progress of our hall,” said Ferrier Community Association president Neil Ratcliffe, adding plumbing, painting and lighting work is expected to be completed soon.
A bottle drive will also be held to help cover the hall’s operating costs.
After the work is complete, volunteers will be invited to a community barbecue.

The hall is targeting a late summer or early fall opening.
Even before construction is complete, the hall has already received inquiries about bookings. Ratcliffe said some 2026 dates have already been reserved, while bookings for 2027 are beginning to come in.
