It’s the perfect way to kick off summer holidays as Spring Into Summer returns to Rocky Mountain House June 28.
Back for its second year, the event will feature six inflatables for children of all ages, including a pirate ship and a 100-foot Radical Run obstacle course where participants can race head-to-head.
The celebration will also include parachute games, tug-of-war, giant Connect Four, a bubble station, face painting and a bike decorating station ahead of a parade. Free food and refreshments, including a barbecue, cake and freezies, will also be available.
The inaugural Spring Into Summer event in 2025 drew about 600 people, said events committee chair Tina Hutchinson.
“We had a beautiful day and a great turnout,” said Hutchinson, adding organizers are preparing to serve as many as 800 people this year.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, at Curtis Field.
Event to go ahead rain or shine
With significant rainfall throughout June and more possible on June 28, organizers have booked the Rocky Arena as an indoor backup location.
Hutchinson said space constraints could prevent all six inflatables from being set up indoors if poor weather forces the event inside.
“We would still have all the games — maybe on a slightly smaller scale,” she said, adding the barbecue and other activities would go ahead as planned.
Springboard into summer
The name Spring Into Summer carries a double meaning, serving as both a springboard into summer holidays and a nod to the event’s many bouncy castles and inflatables.
Spring Into Summer is one of four major events organized by the Community Events Committee, alongside Light Up The Night in November, Family Day in February and Alberta Day celebrations in the fall.
