The Central Alberta Forage and Livestock Association (CAFLA) will host a free workshop on rotational grazing at the end of June.
Residents are invited to attend on June 30 at the farm of Deb and Doug Skeels, located east of Rocky Mountain House along Range Road 6-5.
The workshop will take place in the field and include a pasture walk, giving participants an opportunity to learn about the Skeels’ rotational grazing management practices, as well as practical tips and techniques.
“Deb and Doug have been doing rotational grazing for many, many years,” said CAFLA executive director Tatyana Pavlovets, adding the event is geared toward people who are just beginning their rotational grazing journey.
She said the Skeels are prepared to share advice and answer questions on everything from water management to fencing among other considerations.
The workshop, in conjunction with CAFLA’s south grazing club, runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided.
While it is free, preregistration is required by clicking here.
CAFLA’s north grazing club will be hosting a similar event in Brazeau County Thursday, July 9 at the farm of Mark and Lynne Raines.
