RCMP are expanding an Amber Alert and the search area for Lanakai Morrison, offering several updates late Thursday.
The boy is the subject of an Amber Alert issued late Wednesday night out of Beaverlodge, which is a half hour west of Grande Prairie.
The alert originally applied to a 200 km radius from Beaverlodge; however, Mounties say the alert now applies to everywhere between Grande Cache and Chateh — a distance of about 750 km, with Grande Prairie in the middle.
The alert also applies within the north and west provincial boundaries.
RCMP have also provided a photo of the alleged suspect, his mother, Krista Morrison (see above).
According to police, on July 7, Lanakai Morrison was taken by his mom, 35-year-old Krista Morrison, from Valhalla Centre near Beaverlodge.
Lanakai is believed to be with his biological mother, her partner Daniel Ludwig, and another child, four-year-old Karl Morrison.
Police add that Ludwig may have a shaved or bald head, as opposed to brown hair as originally shared.
Additionally, they say the original vehicle (a black 2015 Toyota Tundra) they were believed to be in has been located, and they are now believed to be driving a 2006 Red Ford F350, AB license plate CXW8820.
Lanakai Morrison is described as:
- 6-years-old
- Slight build
- Long light brown hair
- Brown eyes
Krista Morrison is described as:
- 35-years-old
- 5’8” tall
- Medium build
- Long dark brown hair
- Brown eyes
Daniel Ludwig is described as:
- 35-years-old
- 5’11” tall
- Large build
- Brown hair (may be bald or have a shaved head)
- Brown Eyes
