A new amenity in Condor will officially be known as the Condor Railway Trail.
Students at Charlotte Small Elementary School selected the finalists in a spring naming contest, with Clearwater County council choosing the winning entry.
Principal Cheryl Kalev supported the initiative and organized the contest. Before the end of the school year, students narrowed the entries to five finalists:
- Condor Nature Trail
- Condor Community Outdoor Walking Trail
- Condor Adventure Path
- Railroad Forest Trail
- Condor Railway Trail
Coun. Lorne Humphrey said Condor Railway Trail was the ideal choice because it highlights the hamlet, its history and its active community.
Ag Services Director Bettina van Nieuwkerk said county staff have already completed several improvements to the trail, including installing a new culvert and laying gravel. With the name now approved, she said staff will order and install trail signs.
Picnic tables have also been ordered, while deadfall and standing dead trees will be removed as staff are available.
