Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued an air quality advisory and a severe thunderstorm watch for the Rocky Mountain House, Crimson Lake and Nordegg areas.

Conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop early Tuesday afternoon along the foothills before moving east through the evening.

Air quality advisory

Wildfire smoke is causing, or is expected to cause, poor air quality and reduced visibility across the region.

Air quality and visibility can change quickly over short distances and from hour to hour as smoke conditions shift.

As smoke levels increase, so do the health risks. Residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors and consider reducing or postponing outdoor sports, activities and events.
