The annual Leslieville Block Party celebration is set to return Saturday, Sept. 12, with a fun-filled day of events for the whole family.

Back for its sixth year, the event will include returning favourites such as wagon rides courtesy of West Country Harness Club, live music, balloon twisting, zucchini races, face painting, a market and much more.

Bouncy castles will be set up, and volunteers with the annual Leslieville haunted house will have a booth for a mini fright.

This year’s musical act is Gravel and Gold. Fresh off their performance at Rhythm River Music Festival, the Rocky-based act blends folk, rock, country and pop.

Also new this year is an expanded Little Toy Factory car show. Melissa Wright with the Leslieville Community Centre board says extra space has been set aside for a bigger show.

“We’re really excited to see how many cars show up this year,” she says.

A dunk tank will be set up, with proceeds supporting the Leslieville Community Centre. While she wants to keep their identities a secret, Wright says there will be some familiar local faces stepping up to be dunked.

Anyone who would like to take part in the dunk tank can contact the Leslieville Community Hall to get signed up.

Over at the fire hall, Wright says a mini “Touch-A-Truck” event will be happening, where kids can get an up-close look at a fire truck and other vehicles.

Back this year is a chance to win the coveted championship medal for the 2026 zucchini races. Wright says there will be a station set up to build your own zucchini racer, although she encourages participants to build one ahead of time to ensure there are enough supplies to go around.

The 2 p.m. zucchini races are a unique event where participants find a zucchini, decorate it, put some wheels on it and race it.
