Unemployment in the Rocky Mountain House area stayed unchanged in September, remaining at 6.3 per cent.
That’s according to the latest Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada, which shows the jobless rate remaining the same as August, but above July when it was recorded at 5.7 per cent.
Once again in September, the Banff-Jasper-Rocky Mountain House and Athabasca-Grande Prairie-Peace River area had among the lowest unemployment rates in the province.
September also saw the overall jobs picture improve across the province.
Alberta’s unemployment saw a notable drop, down to 6.4 per cent. That’s down 0.4 percentage points from August and puts Alberta below the national average of 6.5 per cent.
The three biggest cities saw month-over-month unemployment drops with Calgary down to 6.3 per cent, Edmonton down to 7.7 per cent. The Red Deer region had the lowest unemployment in the province at 6.3 per cent.

In Alberta, full-time employment increased by 25,800 in September, while part-time employment fell by 2,700.
The largest monthly employment gains were in professional, scientific and technical services; business, building and other support services; and wholesale and retail trade.
The largest declines were in health care and social assistance; forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying, and oil and gas; and public administration.
