It was a spooky Halloween weekend on the score clock for the Rocky Rams as the team dropped a pair of games to North Division rivals Sylvan Lake and Red Deer over the Oct 30-31 weekend.
The team entered the Oct. 30 contest at the Diamond Valley Pressure Services Arena riding high having collected points in their last three games.
However, it was all Sylvan Lake from the outset as Wranglers forward Liam Tennant found the back of the Rocky net just 45 seconds into the opening frame.
The Wranglers would score seven more unanswered goals en route to an 11-1 drubbing in Sylvan.
Rams forward Bracken Hilman scored the lone goal for the visitors.
Oct. 31 vs. Red Deer
The team then travelled to Red Deer’s Servus Arena for a Halloween night tilt with the Vipers.
It was an offensive barrage as Rams Goalie Lauson Kolisnek turned aside 42 Vipers shots.
Brodie Van Riper opened the scoring at 9:30 of the first for the eventual game-winner, and Kohen Rea added a power-play goal at 5:46 of the second to make it 2-0 after 40 minutes. Brady Leroux capped the scoring at 2:36 of the third.
The Vipers defense also limited Rocky to just 10 shots on goal across the full 60 minutes.
Despite the Rams’ special teams going to work killing off four of five Viper powerplays, the team was shut out 3-0.
Rams return home Nov. 6
The Rams return home against the same Red Deer Vipers on Friday night, looking to improve on a 1-9-2-1 record.
Game time 7:30 p.m.
