The Rocky Rams says they’re ready to deliver a successful season for fans as it kicks off the 2025/26 season at home on Saturday night.
Newly minted head coach Cody McLellan says he was happy with what he saw in the off season.
“It looks like we’re going to have really nice depth in the forward groups,” says McLellan. “Our defense is still a work in progress, but we have a couple new player who’ve just showed up — and it looks very promising.”
McLellan formerly coached the U18AA West Central Tigers, and says coming to the Rams squad has been a bit of an adjustment.
“It’s not quite what I’m used to with older guys who are working and whatnot,” he explains. “There’s lots of moving parts, but I like the direction we’re going.”
McLellan says the aim this year from the start is to compete for a full 60 minutes, every single game.
The team will be presented with a test to kick off the regular season, as the 2025 HJHL champion Sylvan Lake Wranglers pay a visit to the Rocky Arena.
“Sylvan’s a good team,” says McLellan. “We’ve picked up enough pieces that we should be very competitive with them.”

Puck drop against the Wranglers is 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Rocky Arena.
General admission for all home games will start one hour before puck drop.
