Nominations are now open for the 2024 Wishbone Awards which recognize individuals who help put holiday meals on the table for those in need.
Sharmane Hindbo of Caroline was one of eight Wishbone Awards recipients in 2023, which included $2,500 grants to help them fund their community efforts.
For the past 17 years, Hindbo and her team have hosted a turkey dinner for over 150 Albertans, “filling the holidays with good food, music and the spirit of togetherness”.
Other 2023 winners included people from across the country from St. John’s, NF to Creston, BC.
This year, officials with the Think Turkey Wishbone Awards say it will once again award $2,500 in grants to eight Canadians who embody the spirit of giving, like Sharmane.
According to statistics provided by Think Turkey, a reported 23 per cent of Canadians are living with food insecurity ahead of the holiday season.
Nominations are open from Nov. 4-20.
Organizers say if you know someone deserving of the award, you can click here to nominate them.
