As we get into snowy season, the Town of Rocky Mountain House is advising that it provides free sidewalk sand at two locations in town.
The sand is in clearly marked bins outside the public works yard (4607-48 St.) and near the gravel parking lot at the Rocky Mountain House Regional Recreation Centre (5332 50 St.)
Both bins are accessible 24/7, say town officials.
Officials say all sidewalks adjacent to your house must be cleared of snow and ice within 48 hours of a snowfall.
Public works aims to clear main roadways within 48 to 72 hours of a snowfall; beginning with priority roads.
Documents show the town has 56 km of paved roads, 25 km of alleyways, and 17 km of walking trails.
Residents are also reminded not to park beside windrows, as Bylaw 12/02V establishes a $75 fine for any parking that obstructs traffic.
