Rocky Mountain House Peer 2 Peer Network will be hosting two upcoming events in June: a meet and greet event for its new Women’s Support Group on June 9 and a used item fundraiser drop-off June 15.
Dustyanne Evans, vice president of the Rocky Peer 2 Peer Network says the organization’s mission is to help those in the community with mental health and other issues with trained support people and referrals to other organizations.
Mother’s Support Group
Organizers with the Rocky Peer 2 Peer Network are running a Mother’s Support Group from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, at the wooden pavilion Helen Hunley Picnic Shelter (5024 49 St.)
Evans says the hope is the event will be an opportunity for local moms to network, and lean on each other for support, such as having someone in the community to be trusted with babysitting.
She adds, the event will have open dialogue where participants can voice their opinion or drop off a note in a comment box about what they would like to see the group become.
The event is free to attend and open to everyone. Organizers say it’s a come-and-go event where there will be food sales, kids activities, and more.
Drop-off fundraiser
The Rocky Peer 2 Peer Network is hosting a drop off collection date on June 15 at the Brick parking lot in Rocky Mountain House from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Organizers are asking for donations of used items or garage sale left overs.
The items will be brought to Value Village’s FunDRIVE; an initiative that helped the organization raise nearly $1000 in 2023, says Evans.
Organizers say leftovers from the ROAR Society and M.E.L. Society garage sales have been donated already.

Evans says the Peer 2 Peer Network offers services tailored for the region, with local mental health specialists called ‘animators’
The original Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) programming would work well in big cities like Calgary and Edmonton, says Evans, but when it comes to smaller communities, it’s not one-size-fits-all. Now, with its new Rural Mental Health Project and the introduction of animators, facilitators can better address localized needs, says Evans.
