The Town of Rocky Mountain House is inviting residents and local organizations to help shape the future of parks, culture, and recreation as it launches public engagement for a new Recreation Master Plan.
The Town has partnered with Edmonton-based Expedition Management Consulting Ltd. to lead the project and gather feedback from the community through a series of surveys, open houses, and digital workshops.
An online community survey is now open and will remain available until May 20. Residents and user groups are encouraged to share their thoughts on topics ranging from facility upgrades and program growth to barriers that may be limiting participation.
In addition, in-person engagement stations will be set up at the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre on May 2 and 3, where town staff and consultants will be available to answer questions and gather feedback. A seniors-specific session will be be held May 2 at 2:30 p.m., with youth-specific feedback session the same day at 4 p.m. Both in the Subway Room at the Rec Centre.
Two virtual input workshops will also be held, one on May 8 and another on the 14th, from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. Each session will include a short presentation followed by a facilitated discussion. The material covered will be the same at both sessions.

Rocky Mountain House maintains a large variety of recreation amenities , including the Lou Soppit Community Centre, Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre, a skatepark, and the Rocky Mountain House Public Library. It also maintains a 14 km network of trails, and 17 parks and playgrounds.
The new plan will help guide future investments in these facilities and others over the coming years.
Community groups are also being asked about their long-term planning needs, potential capital projects, and willingness to support expanded services through increased user fees.
The town says input collected over the coming weeks will directly inform the development of the final master plan, expected later this year.
